Did my vasectomy fail? Is it possible for one sperm to slip through?
Vasectomy - 2 answers
I had a vasectomy in 2002. I was cleared by the doctor to have sex without risk of being fertile. I have since been divorced. I dated another woman, who is now claiming she is pregnant and cites I'm the only one she has been with. We are in 2019. I have had sex many times without issue. Is it possible that my vasectomy no longer works? Could one sperm have slipped through?

How soon after a vasectomy can I ejaculate? Will it be painful?
My wife and I have a very healthy sex life. Would it be harmful to masturbate or have her assist with masturbation a few days after my vasectomy? I have no swelling or pain. I’ve been taking Aleve every 12 hours. The instructions the doc sent home says resume activities when your swelling has gone down. Should I have any concerns with the small incision in the scrotum during masturbation, oral sex, or vaginal sex?

I had a vasectomy about a month ago and have ejaculated via masturbation about 20 times. The last 5 times, my semen was discolored. Is this normal?
I had a vasectomy about a month ago and have ejaculated via masturbation about 20 times. The last 5 times, my semen was a light brownish-red or white with 2-5 tiny brown clumps that almost look like small boogers. There is no pain. Is this normal? I noticed a similar question on this site and half the doctors said it was, half didn't. Has anyone had patients with a similar problem? Thanks

How do you know whether a vasectomy has failed?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
My husband had a vasectomy 15 years ago before I ever met him. Since then, he found out the doctor who did his surgery was sued for malpractice due to a 95% failure rate. Is there a way to find out, without a sperm test, if his vasectomy has failed too?

Vasectomy - 1 answer
I have a lot of swelling 5 days after vasectomy, and the area is extremely painful to touch. A light touch where the tube inside was cut feels like a 1,000-pound impact; it is extremely painful. What should I do? Is something wrong?

When should I be concerned about pain and swelling post-vasectomy?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
I’m 12 days post-vasectomy. The scalpel, tie off and cauterize method was used. I had bad pain (8-9/10 scale) and swelling for the first 8 days. Scrotal swelling has decreased but the pain is still apparent (5/10 scale). I’m able to feel vas tubes, and they're still pretty swollen. Improvement is slow even though I've followed recovery instructions. No fevers and incisions have healed. When should I be worried about pain not going away? Doc says give it another 10 days before being seen.

My doctor nicked a vein during the vasectomy procedure. What is the treatment for this?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
My doctor nicked a vein during the vasectomy procedure. The right side is fine, but the left side is twice the size and hard. I had more pain on the left side during the vasectomy. The doctor said it was normal. Now, I have an infection and a little pus is coming out. I'm on antibiotics (500mg levofloxacin 1X a day). How do I treat the pain and swelling I'm having?

Is it possible to father a child 22 years after a vasectomy?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
I had a vasectomy 22 years ago. My girlfriend recently told me she is pregnant and I am the father. I've already scheduled a semen analysis. Procedure notes indicate a section of vas removed, tied, stapled and burned. I had no problems with my ex-wife. Girlfriend states that on vacation she became pregnant with my child. Odds seem very remote. If the semen analysis comes back with a sperm count of ZERO, does this still mean I could possibly be the father?

I think my vasectomy incision is infected. Do I need to go to the ER or should I wait until Wednesday when my urologist opens?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
I had a vasectomy about 17 days ago. I recently noticed a lump at the incision site. If I press it, white pus comes out. I also noticed yellow and red drainage in my shorts. There is no fever and I feel very little pain. The bump does seem to be getting smaller as it drains.

I had a vasectomy about a week ago. I still have significant pain. Is this normal?
Vasectomy - 1 answer
The pain locations are at the base of the shaft of my penis, pinpointed on either side, about where the scrotum and pelvis meet. It comes and goes. I also get pain on either testicle (on the right more often than the left) that feels like something is gently scraping against the testicle on the inside of my scrotum. This is the more significant pain, and can vary from feeling like someone flicked or poked me, to a hit that makes me catch my breath. Is this normal?

If the vas deferens opened on both ends, would it be possible for sperm to jump across and exit the ejaculate without a direct connection?
Vasectomy - 2 answers
I had a vasectomy 27 yrs ago. I cannot feel the hard cauterized tube ends like I used to feel through the skin with my fingers. I might go for a semen analysis. Do the tubes need to be directly re-connected or could sperm swim across the area between and out the other end of the tube?

I have been on medicine for 2 days and my testicle is still rock hard and 3x its normal size. What should I do?
I had a vasectomy 7 days ago. By the time I saw my urologist on post-op day 5, my left testicle was extremely swollen and bruised. He said I have higher than normal bruising/swelling and a varicocele but was not overly concerned. He prescribed Nabumetone 500 mg 2x a day. He did not feel I was infected. I have been on the medicine for 2 days and my testicle is still rock hard and 3x it’s normal size.

My cremaster muscle has been overactive since having a vasectomy. How do I ease the pain?
I have always had a tight cremaster muscle. It's usually hard for doctors to properly examine me. Despite that, my urologist was able to perform a vasectomy under normal local anesthesia. I'm now 5 months post-recovery and have a swollen epididymis on both sides. The pulling up of the cremaster is causing a lot of pain because it squeezes everything into a space that it now doesn't really fit. I try to stay relaxed and do yoga to help. Anything else I can do?
