I want kids but don't know how to go about it or who to see about vasectomy reversal?

My partner (53yrs old) had a vasectomy over 20yr ago on NHS; now we want kids of our own. How do we go about it? Will it work? I'm only 31 and have 2 daughters myself from a previous relationship.

A vasectomy reversal requires the 2 ends of the cut that has deferens done at the time of a vasectomy be put back together and remain open so that the sperm can move through the area of the previous vasectomy and onward toward being ejected at the time of ejaculation. The success rate in the best hands in the country is around 50%. It can be done at most university settings but there are very few in private practice that are successful at this procedure. That varies, however, from place to place. The best and to this question will be obtained by a discussion with your local urologist. The fact that it has been so long since his vasectomy means that his risk of fathering children is much lower than if he had had it done earlier.

I had a vasectomy before meeting my partner and now that we will be marrying soon, we'd like to start a family. So I had a vasectomy reversal three months ago. I have not ejaculated more than 10 times for purity purposes before marriage. I had my sperm tested after the reversal procedure and it shows that the sperm has not returned. Can we hold out hope? Is there a chance the sperm will return?

I'm 35 and I don't think I want to have children. If for some reason I do find someone later on in life, and I want to have kids does it matter how old I am? Could I be 45 and get a reversal? Should I not get a vasectomy if I think I'll want kids?
