Should I elect for surgery on my scrotal hematoma?

The urologist that performed the vasectomy on me diagnosed me with a hematoma 7 days after. He initially said it didn't warrant an operation but then wavered on that. He is really pushing me to have surgery to drain the hematoma. I decided to wait at the time, and now I'm 13 days in and still very swollen and in pain. I am going to get a second opinion, but if the second doctor also recommends surgery, should I do it or try to wait it out? I don't want to be like this for months. I'm worried.

It is unusual to need drainage of a scrotal hematoma. However, in your case, if it has been two weeks and you are not getting better. In fact, your situation may be worsening. In this case, the urologist has to adjust his recommendations to your situation. A second opinion is rarely a bad idea. I agree with "dragging your feet" as you have done to this point in your situation, but you may require intervention.
