I'm scheduled for a vasectomy. I have hard-dry stools and strain on the toilet everyday. What would this type of straining due to my recovery?

It is best, in general, not to be straining with bowel movements. You should change your diet and hydrate to improve this. Straining after any surgical procedure is not ideal but is not a contraindication to having a vasectomy. You may see a bit more discharge from the vasectomy site but this should not delay healing or the success of the procedure.

Straining can increase your risk of bleeding complications. I suggest taking a stool softener around the time of the vasectomy.
