What happened? What did he cut, and what are the possible side effects?

I had a vasectomy done in April 2019; the doctor cut and burned the tubes. I ejaculated over the number of times recommended by the doctor and waited over 3 months for the last test of semen. Now the doctor wants to do a second surgery. What did he cut and burn then?

If you are still having sperm after 3 months that is a little bit early. I could not make any statement about why he would want to repeat the vasectomy unless he is seeing basically no decrease in your sperm count

He most probably did everything correctly but there has been a recanalization of the vas tubes. Sometimes the sperm is very slow to clear and some urologists will suggest repeating to assure there has not been a "reconnection" made. It has happened that a small vein is mistaken as the vas, but this is unusual as the vas has a distinct firmness different than any other structure in the scrotum.
