Usually 15-20 mins. It can be painful. If done in an office setting, the vasectomy site infiltrated with lidocaine is uncomfortable but the anesthetic effect is immediate. There are no needle injectors that are less painful. Then some urologists offer conscious sedation where there is no pain. Most patients will tell you they felt the medicine "going in" and overall they are pleased with the experience. But not all!

About 15 minutes or so, and it is not painful. It is the anxiety prior to the procedure that may make it feel like it would be painful.

It takes 30 minutes in my hands, we use local anaesthesia and patient is quite comfortable. He walks into the procedure room and walk out without any assistance .

In a relaxed well prepared patient it usually takes about 5 minutes to perform each side of the procedure. While there may be some initlal stinging of the local anesthesia, the remainder of the procedure is relatively pain free
