It is rare for an insurance plan to cover a vasectomy reversal. Every once in a great while a patient does have that as a benefit but it is highly unusual. What patients need to do then is to find an expert in vasectomy reversal who will give then the best opportunity to achieve their goal of pregnancy. Cost is the least important factor in this equation. Beware of "low cost" advertisements. Always seek out the most experienced and formally trained surgeon.

Hope this helps,

Insurances do not as a rule cover a reversal. The average cost varies between three and fifteen thousand dollars. The cost range depends on the experience of the surgeon, whether you have local vs. general anesthesia, and if it is done in a hospital vs. a practice owned surgery center.

I had a vasectomy before meeting my partner and now that we will be marrying soon, we'd like to start a family. So I had a vasectomy reversal three months ago. I have not ejaculated more than 10 times for purity purposes before marriage. I had my sperm tested after the reversal procedure and it shows that the sperm has not returned. Can we hold out hope? Is there a chance the sperm will return?

I'm 35 and I don't think I want to have children. If for some reason I do find someone later on in life, and I want to have kids does it matter how old I am? Could I be 45 and get a reversal? Should I not get a vasectomy if I think I'll want kids?
