Why do testicles shrink post vasectomy? Can this be reversed?

I had a vasectomy about two months ago. It wasn't a pleasant procedure to say the least. It took about 45 mins and was very painful. I developed a large lump at the back of my left testicle. It felt as if the the whole tube from up in my groin all the way down to the back of my testicle was swollen into one piece. My doctor gave me an antibiotic and pain meds and the swelling is gone now but my testicles are noticeably smaller and I have a dull aching to them as well.

It certainly sounds as though you had a difficult vasectomy. The only thing that would cause your testicles to shrink, however, is if the vascular supply to the testicles has been compromised.

Testicles do not shrink after a vasectomy unless all testicular arteries have been severed. Since this does not typically occur after a vasectomy, you should see your urologist to evaluate you for other potential causes such as low testosterone.
