It depends. If there is a suture on your skin, that needs to come out. If there is a knot where the vas was tied that is called a sperm granuloma and is very common. As long as it does not hurt it is not dangerous. If there is pain sometimes anti-inflammatories help. Very rarely do they need to be excised.

Surgeons call this a healing ridge. It is normal and softens with time. If it is red and persists it can the be the beginning of an infection. Sometimes a dissolvable stitch that is slow to dissolve will cause a knot. In this case the stitch will come to the surface and you can see it. If this happens, you can use tweezers to pull up on it and cut it at the base. The stitch now will retract below the skin surface and allow it to heal. As with all concerns after a procedure, having your doctor look at it is never a bad idea.
