48 hours after vasectomy, I've been experiencing a weaker than normal urine stream and some discomfort when urinating. Is this normal?

It's been 48 hours since I had a vasectomy. I've been experiencing a weaker than normal urine stream and some discomfort when urinating. The pain has been manageable. I have a varicocele (has been present for years). My primary concern is the symptoms I’m experiencing when urinating. I find it more difficult to start than normal, and I seem to have a “weaker” stream on occasion. This wasn't the case before the vasectomy. Is this something that should go away? Is what I'm experiencing normal?

A vasectomy does not affect the urinary system. Having said that, I have seen circumstances where the Madajet (no-needle vasectomy) was used and the urethra was in the path of the spay and this caused some urinary symptoms that quickly abated.

A vasectomy does not affect urinary function. I suggest a urinalysis to assess for infection or other potential processes. Otherwise, if it resolves soon, I wouldn't worry about it.

This is not usually associated with vasectomy. The symptoms should go away in a few days. If not, consult the doctor who did your vasectomy.
