I have a lot of swelling 5 days after vasectomy, and the area is extremely painful to touch. A light touch where the tube inside was cut feels like a 1,000-pound impact; it is extremely painful. What should I do? Is something wrong?

Excessive swelling is not normal but does happen from time to time. It is a result of small vessels around the vas deferens slowly leaking following a strain of some sort after the procedure. You should be off your feet as much as possible, elevate the scrotum over a rolled sheet and, if concerned, see your urologist. He may prescribe an antibiotic. In most cases, the swelling goes away with time and conservative measures.
