A vasectomy usually takes about fifteen minutes. Yes you can get someone pregnant after a procedure but we recommend no unprotected sex until we have a semen analysis that is free of sperm. This usually takes about thirty ejaculations. The chances of pregnancy after a negative semen analysis is about one in two thousand.

Yes, but the odds are very low--in the 1 in 2,000 range depending on the technique. No other non-radical birth control (such as hysterectomy, which would performed for another reason than birth control) can match this.

Vasectomy is considered permanent sterilization. There is an extremely small chance--about less than 1 in 1000--of getting someone pregnant after a vasectomy, if the procedure was followed by a semen analysis and the results confirmed that there were no sperm in the ejaculate.
