I've been having pain in my side for the past couple of weeks. The pain started off as mild but has been growing intense. Is it possible that I have kidney stones?
Yes, it is possible you may have a kidney stone. I recommend that you check with your primary care physician and have them order a urinalysis, urine culture, renal ultrasound and a plain film of the abdomen. Another test that we could be ordered to screen for kidney stone is a non-contrast abdominal/pelvic CT scan. This test is extremely sensitive and is potentially better than an ultrasound, but there is more radiation exposure.

Usually this is muscle pain. If you get waves of nausea then a kidney stone should be considered. A kidney ultrasound can determine if you are making stones.
