Do I need to go back for a second PVSA?

It's been 4 weeks & 23 ejaculations since my procedure. I tested today at my doctor and it came back negative for sperm. They said to come back in 2 weeks for the second test to confirm. But from a lot of reading I've done, a negative is a negative and we should be good to go for stopping contraception (or just straight abstinence in our case—not taking any chances).

One should be good enough, but it is always best to go with the recommendation of the particular doctor that did the vasectomy. Especially since 4 weeks is on the early side, but if the one you had was negative, the next probably will be also - that simply is their practice philosophy to get two negatives. I would do the second one and everyone will feel better.
