Can my vasectomy still be viable?

If I had a vasectomy 7 months ago and they say I need to give another specimen later because there is still some “movement,” is there any chance that It worked? Or am I going to need to have it done again?

The "movement" comment probably refers to motility. It is not uncommon for there to very small numbers of sperm that don't clear after a vasectomy and that the person is "essentially" sterile. Meaning that the numbers are so small pregnancy would be very unlikely. If the doctor sees small numbers and there are some that are motile that is of concern that there may be the beginnings of re-canalization, hence your being told to give another specimen. If the sperm numbers don't diminish and there are motile sperm, you may very well choose to have another vasectomy done.

Every once in a while, rarely, a vasectomy does not lead to complete disappearance of moving sperm. It is those moving sperm that we worry about in terms of creating a pregnancy. It's rare when a vasectomy needs to be redone - it is exactly the reason we check after the vasectomy.
