After having a sperm count done, I was told to be re-checked in 2-3 months as there were dead sperm present. Should we wait to have unprotected sex?

I had my vasectomy on Sept 1, 3 and a half months ago.

Yes, although it is not uncommon to have random dead sperm months after a vasectomy, it is the practice of most urologists to "see no sperm" before giving the go-ahead to have unprotected sexual activity.

I would wait another month and recheck. Rarely there are patients that even after 5 to 6 months may have less than 10,000 sperm that are completely dead and the risk of pregnancy is less than 1 in 2000. I believe the sperm count you did did not give you a number.
