No-Scapel and Traditional Vasectomy in Norfolk, Nebraska (NE)

Technically speaking, the main variation of the no-scalpel vasectomy and the traditional vasectomy is the use of the scalpel. However, there are other differences as well.

What are the differences between no-scalpel & traditional vasectomies?

  • Traditional Vasectomy--with a traditional vasectomy, a needle is used to numb the scrotum with a local anesthetic. Two tiny incisions—one on each side of the scrotum—are then made with a scalpel, as to allow the surgeon to pull each vas deferens tube to the surface so that it can be isolated and separated from the scrotal tissue. Once the tubes are secluded from the scrotum, they are sealed off using sutures or are burned using electrical cautery.
  • No-Scalpel Vasectomy--your surgeon touches the scrotum to feel for the vas deferens (the tubes that transport sperm) and holds them in place. Your surgeon then injects a local anesthetic using a tiny needle to completely numb the site. Instead of making small incisions, a small hole is opened on the scrotum with sharp forceps, then stretched out so your vas deferens can be pulled through. Your vas deferens is then severed, cauterized and closed with two titanium clips.
