Tubal Ligation Reversal Surgery
Dr. Monteith is a fertility surgeon dedicated to reversing tubes after tubal ligation and repairing blocked fallopian tubes through tubal repair surgery. Patients travel from across the United States and the world to have their tubal ligations reversed at a center dedicated to fertility surgery. Dr. Monteith holds the distinct privilege of being the first fertility surgeon in the world to report successful pregnancy after reversal of Essure sterilization.

I provide vasectomy because I have witnessed the impact of pregnancy and tubal ligation upon my patients. I want to remove barriers and make vasectomy more accessible to men and couples. I know first hand what the alternative outcomes are when vasectomies are not done. This is the difference between me and many other vasectomy providers.

I learned no-scalpel vasectomy by mentoring with other physicians who were proficient in minimally invasive vasectomy. After becoming proficient in vasectomy, I volunteered my time performing no-scalpel vasectomy at Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina and performed over 500 of these procedures. Through professional relationships I established while learning vasectomy I became an active supporter of No-Scalpel Vasectomy International. Through this organization, I was able to participate in international vasectomy missions to the Philippines and Kenya. On these missions I was able to partner with many other vasectomy providers of different nationalities and professional backgrounds.

During our vasectomy mission to the Philippines, I was able to become proficient with the No-needle vasectomy technique and I now exclusively offer No-needle No-scalpel vasectomy (Gentle Touch Vasectomy). During our vasectomy mission to Kenya, I witnessed first hand how vasectomy can help improve women’s health and decrease HIV transmission within the developing world.

The experiences I have gained from my participation with this organization and relationships with fellow vasectomists have been immeasurable and life changing. In the truest definition of being a physician and a surgeon, I learned my vasectomy and sterilization reversal skills not in medical school, residency, or by virtue of board certification, but, instead, by the patient’s bedside while apprenticing under skilled providers, collaborating with other like-minded physicians, and with lots of perspiration, self-study, and personal determination.
