I had a vasectomy reversal 8 days ago. When can I start having sex again?

Reversal doctors vary as to how long they advise their patients to abstain. I advise three weeks before having sex or strenuous activity. This allows for the healing of both the skin incision and the two vas tubes that have been repaired with 12-15 sutures the size of hair. Fluid leaking out of the repair and the body's reaction to it could potentially have an adverse effect on the success of the reversal.

All of us who do Vasectomy Reversal at a high level probably have a slightly different answer. I recommend to my patients to wait 2 weeks to allow time for the incisions to heal, but there is no magic to that number. Probably wait another week before resuming.
