Hi, a vasectomy reversal should be performed with an operating microscope as the connection that needs to be made is too small to just use your eyes. It is delicate and, generally, if done well, should take about 2-3 hours.

Hope this helps,

Dr. Robert Oates, Boston

No! It takes a few hours and is usually done in a surgery center under a microscope and with some type of anesthesia. That's why it's so much more expensive.

No, a reversal is a couple of hours procedure that is done with a microscope in the O.R. It may take 1 to 2 hours, but it is still an outpatient procedure.

No reversal of vasectomy is done under microscope ,it is more time consuming compared to vasectomy.

I had a vasectomy before meeting my partner and now that we will be marrying soon, we'd like to start a family. So I had a vasectomy reversal three months ago. Is there a chance the sperm will return?
