Does it matter how fast you have the ejaculations before having the sperm count done?

I had my vasectomy done on Apr 7, and was told to have 20 ejaculations before getting the count done. 2 days after the procedure, I found myself getting very aroused all the time, much like it was in my early 20's. Its been 2 and a half weeks, and I've had 20. Is it too soon to get the count done?

The clearing of the sperm to achieve azospermia (no sperm in the ejaculate) is a function of the number of times you ejaculate and not a function of time. There is some varying of opinion on how many ejaculations are necessary but most feel 25-35 and this also varies in the individual. So is it too soon...probably not, however I'd wait until 30 or so then submit.

Typically we ask patients to refrain from ejaculation and orgasm for 2 weeks to allow for healing. Then we suggest 30-40 ejaculations over a 6 week period to allow for clearing the tubes of sperm. Then we check a semen analysis.
